What is KPV?
KPV (Alpha-MSH(11-13) — Anti-inflammatory tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val)) is a 3-amino acid C-terminal alpha-MSH fragment. C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-MSH (Lys-Pro-Val) retaining anti-inflammatory activity via MC1R modulation. Inhibits NF-κB nuclear translocation, reduces IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α production, and shows particular efficacy in intestinal epithelial and GI inflammation models.
Research Applications
NF-κB Inhibition
Nuclear translocation block — downstream cytokine reduction
MC1R Modulation
Melanocortin-1 receptor anti-inflammatory pathway
GI Inflammation
Intestinal epithelial protection, IBD models, mucosal healing
vs Full Alpha-MSH
Minimal active fragment — residues 11-13 vs full 13aa peptide
Cytokine Reduction
IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α reduction — inflammatory biology research
